Donations to the first public library are being collected in Taganrog

On the 30th of December The town duma decided to receive donations, to thank all donors and to compile instructions for readers and direction

On the 16th of December The town duma under the chairmanship of P. F. Perushkin enacted in the library’s instructions to ban lending the current issues of magazines

On the 27th of January The governor of the town a vice-admiral I. V. Furuhelm enacted to open The public library in Taganrog

On the 23d of May The first public library in Taganrog opens

The lending of books costs 4,5 roubles a year, students don’t need to pay for it; using a reading room is free for all readers

On the 7th of July 815 books for 250 roubles were bought by auction from A. Vaschinenko

On the 1st of August there are 40 readers of the library who must pay for the lending of books and 34 readers from students who may use books free. During two and a half months since opening 1086 people visited the library

The librarians of Chekhov CPL took part in Regional science-practical conference “Revival of the Russian spirituality in creative interaction of libraries and Rostov Eparchy” which took part in Library-Informational Center of branch № 21 named after Turgenev MBCI Rostov-on-Don CLS.

The 20th,21, 23, 27, 28th of March. The 2nd  Opened City competition of readers and translators among the pupils “ Co-authorship with poets” took place in Chekhov CPL ( 390 people took part in this competition)

The 29th of March.The workers of Chekhov CPL took part in the meeting of ecological discussion club, which took place in State Public Library of Don.

The 10th of April. The Round-table talk “The work of Taganrog Libraries with population on the formation of the positive relation to a healthy life” took place in conference hall of Chekhov CPL. The specialists of library-informational centers of municipal libraries took part in the round-table talk.

The 12th of April. The online lecture “The first one forever: Yury Gagarin, John Glenn, Yang Liwei” by Anton Pervushin , the author of the book” 108 minutes, that changed the world”, included into the short list of “Educator”- 2011 rewards, was held in conference hall of Chekhov CPL. About 50 people were present.

The 20-21st of April. The Chekhov CPL took part in All-Russian social-cultural action “Library night”. The action wason 3 stages: The Historical building of Chekhov CPL (96 Petrovskayast.), the New building of CPL (105 Grecheskayast.) Theater garden (105 Grecheskayast). About 20 events, on which 2700 people were present, were held during the action.

The 15-18th of May. The 6th Chekhov Book festival took place in Taganrog. It was organized by Federal news agency and Mass Media of RF, the Ministry of culture of Rostov region, the Local Authorities of Taganrog, the fund “Pushkin Library” (Moscow) The Chekhov CPL took active part in organization of festival and received in gift about 1148 books from Russian public houses. –The 15th of May. The conference hall of CPL: One-man show “The ring and the rose” by W. Thackerayperformed by the Honored Artist of Russian Federation M. Morozov. The 16th of May. The concert and exhibition hall:

- the opening of the 6th book exhibition “ The best books of Russia for Taganrog” 

-the project “ The favorite books of famous people from Saint Petersburg” .The books were represented and given to the municipal libraries of Taganrog

-the meeting of the students and teachers of the faculty “The Publishing” Taganrog State Pedagogical Institute with the head of publishing house “Modern Russian Prose” E. Shubina.

-the 16thof May.

The conference hall of Chekhov library  :

-the public lecture about modern literature. The members of the lecture – the literary critic, writer, journalist N. Alexandrov and editor-in-chief of publishing house “OGY”, poet, translator  M.Amelin. Librarians of special educational institutions, higher education institutions of the city, students of Russian State Social University and guests of the festival were present at the meeting.

-Interactive conference “New forms of book advancement and acquainting young people with reading”. The members of the conference – the head of the educational and methodical center “School of library leadership” A. Lisitsky, the Honored Teacher of RF, director of the Center of education №109 (Moscow) E. Yamburg and the director of “International Centralized Library System named after M.Lermontov” (Saint Petersburg) S. Sereichyk

-the meeting of library specialists with the director of “International centralized library system named after M.Lermontov”  S. Sereichyk. Within the meeting the contract about interlibrary subscription between the libraries of Saint Petersburg and Taganrog was signed (120 librarians took part in the meeting).   The 16th of May. Near the Chekhov Library: - the autograph – session, the members of which were writers, literary critics, prose writers, poets – guests of thefestival.   

The 16th,17th,18th of May. The Book Fair was set near the Chekhov library. The biggest book-selling organization of region “Rostovbook” performed the new books and editions of the writers – guests of the festival.

-The 17th of May. The conference hall of Chekhov Library – the meeting with the famous writer, poet and play-writer V. Voynovich. (librarians, literary critics, teachers, students, pupils) .

-The 18th of May. In the Garden near the Chekhov Library: -The action “Opened Microphone” for poets of Taganrog with M.Amelina.

The closing of the festival. About 60 colleagues from different cities of Russia were present. Library community of Taganrog were presented by specialists of municipal libraries, city higher education institutions, schools, trade-union and departmental libraries (more then 100 people). More the 160 librarians Within the festival about 18 events, on which 5 000 people were present, were organized by the workers of the Library.

The 25th of May Rostov-on-Don Congress-exhibitioncenter “VertolExpo”. A lecture was given on the theme “ The Heritage of Sacred Life” from the experience of work of Taganrog Libraries on the first Orthodox Conference “The work of the libraries on regeneration of Orthodox spirituality” (The leading methodologist of the Organizational and Methodical Department).

On the 9th of June.The Legal and Economic Information Center of the Chekhov Library became a winner in the 5th Regional competition “ Libraries for electorate of Don”( the project “So far and so close in history of Russia”).

The professional meeting with colleagues from Hartsizk (Donetsk Region, Ukraine) was held  on the 20th of June. The ways of further co-operation were cleared up during the meeting.

The group of the department “The Legal and Economic Information Center” received gratitude from All-Russian Public Organization of Disabled Patients with Multiple Sclerosisand  Regional Public Organization of Disabled People “Revival” (Taganrog)forhelp in organization of regional school: “The changes of Legislation in compulsory medical insurance” for people, suffering with multiple sclerosis, living in Rostov region.

The17-20nd of august.The manager of the Center of Cultural programs Oksana Serbina gave the lecture on “The role of public libraries in young generation’s comprehension of the history of Holocaust ”on the XIII annual summer session of international courses of Holocaust lecturers.

The meetings with famous film directors Vladimir Sorokin and Sergey Golovetsky and cinema specialist Tatyana Mushtakhova were held in the Chekhov CPL during the 6th film festival “In the homeland of A.Chekhov” (320 people were present. 3 feature and documentary films were showed).

The 4th of September. The leading librarian of the department of Pre-revolutionary and Valuable Editions of Chekhov Central Public Library I. Morozova and the manager of Library-Informational center of Savitsky E. Astahova were rewarded with memorial marks “75 anniversary of RostovRegion”,  for ”high achievements in social economica land cultural development of RostovRegion and taking active part in patriotic education of the next generation”.

On the 9 of September the workers of Chekhov Library in co-operation with the members of library clubs and other social organization stook partin the festival of national culturesKhorovod of Friendship” , performing the largest Russian community (Gorky City Park of Culture and Rest).

Part 1” and the manager of Musical Department I.Ponochevnaya made a report on “Chekhov Central Public Library as the informational center and cultural-historical object of tourist resources of Taganrog. Part 2. 19 of October.The artistic evening of the famous script writer and film director, the Winner of the State award of USSR Victor Mereshko and stage and film actor, Honored  Artist of USSR Oleg Basilashvily took place in conference hall of Chekhov Library.

22 of October. The educational seminar ”Holocaust ’s lessons -  the way to tolerance” for students, school teachers and lecturers of history and social science was held in Chekhov library. The seminar was organized by Chekhov library and the scientific and educational Center and Fund “Holocaust.

28 of October.The manager of Organizational and Methodical Department S.Ribina took part in events, dedicated to the 65 anniversary of Chekhov library in Novocherkask.

The 13 of November. A letter of thanks from Mayor of Taganrog was given to the manager of the department of Pre-revolutionary and Valuable editions E. Shapochkain connection with celebration of the 35th anniversary of foundation of the museum “Chekhov Store” for lasting many years work, for contribution to cultural life of Taganrog and Rostov region, for the development of museum and book matter , for eternizing Chekhov’s memory and popularization of his works.

The 21 of November. Refresher course for directors of CPL and MCL of Rostov region took place in Chekhov CPL. About 50 colleagues visited the library.

From 28 of May to 24 of December.The charitable action “ Give “The Princes’ Dress” to girls, deprived of parents’ love”, which was finished with the Great  Ball, dedicated to the anniversary of Victory in Patriotic war of 1812, took place in Chekhov CPL. The citizens and city enterprises took part in the Ball. About 60 dresses for girls were collected, bought and sewed by the individual order.

15-18 of May.The 7th Chekhov festival was held. It was organized by Federal news agency and Mass Media of RF, the Ministry of culture of Rostov region, the Local authorities of Taganrog, Fund “Pushkin Library” (Moscow). The municipal libraries took active part in organization of festival and received in gift about 1163 books from Russian public houses.                                     The 16th of May. The concert and exhibition hall:- the opening of the 7th book exhibition “ The best books of Russia for Taganrog” on which the books of well-known Russian public houses were represented: Azbuka-Aticus, AST, Astrel, White City, Children's literature, Young guard, Flinta, Eksmo and others.–the meeting of students of lyceum №4, readers, librarians with Russian writer A.Gelasimov.16 of May. Near the Chekhov Library:- The book fair, on which the biggest book-selling organization of region “Rostovbook” performed the new books and editions of the writers – guests of the festival. The book production was presented by book-selling shops of Taganrog: “Phoenix”, “Magistr” , “Books” and Taganrog writers.

16,17,18 of May –Theatrical show. Young artists of the theatre ”Garden”(art-adviser V.Psel) appeared before guests as the heroes of literary works. The audienceshould guess the characters and find them on symbolical "literary crossroads" 16-17 of May. Gorky Library: - The science-practical conference of workers of cultural and educational institutions of the South federal district “Children. Culture. Reading” dedicatedtothe 80 anniversaryofGorkyLibrary. Near the Gorky library: -The unusual procession of readers Street-art “From Gorky to Gorky” was held, it was dedicated to 145 anniversary of writer’s birthday.

2014 The presentation of the Festival of municipal libraries of the city "Taganrog reading" for the staff of the library system of Taganrog, librarians of schools, colleges, social institutions, trade-union libraries, within the framework of the Year of culture in Russia took place on 18 February in the conference hall of the Central municipal public library named after A. P. Chekhov. The presentation of new online project of the Central city public library named after Anton Chekhov "The Taganrog book collection" also took place in the library.
2014 The first stage of the Competition of artistic reading "We read the fairy tale" in French, for pupils of schools № 10, № 32 and № 38 took place on 25 of February in the concert hall of the Tchaikovsky House. The contest was organized by the Department of foreign languages of library named after A. P. Chekhov and the Department of education of Taganrog (109 people).
2014 The awarding ceremony of the Contest of photographs "We are responsible for those, who were tamed” took place on 28 March. The competition was held within the city ecological two-month campaign "Days of protection from environmental hazards" for pupils of educational institutions of Taganrog, with assistance of the Department of education of Taganrog and assistance of the Department of environmental protection and natural resources of Administration of Taganrog. The organizers of the competition were - the Station of young naturalists, library of A.P. Chekhov, the department "Center of natural sciences and medicine" (90 people, 50 works).
2014 April 24. The Deputy Director on information technologies of the Centralized Library System Antysheva Galina became the participant of the International scientific and practical conference:  "Youth reading Chekhov in Taganrog" and made a report "Modern information capabilities of the library named after A. P. Chekhov" (Taganrog)
2014 The All-Russian socio-cultural action "Biblionight - 2014 in Taganrog" "Leafing through a book of Russian culture" took place on April 25 on three platforms of library of A.P. Chekhov. During the action 54 persons joined a public library, 9 tours for 180 people were conducted. In total 2800 people took part in it.
2014 The Head of the department “Center of cultural service” became the participant of International seminar of Interregional public organization "Holocaust". She made the report "The role of public libraries in shaping the tolerant thinking of the young generation on the example of Holocaust history”.

The VIII Chekhov book festival, organized by The Federal Press and Mass Communications agency of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Culture of Rostov region, Administration of Taganrog, the Management of culture of Taganrog, Pushkin Library Fund was held in Taganrog on 14-18 of May.

Municipal library took a most active part in preparation and carrying out of festival and received in gift from the Russian publishers 1166 copies.

May 15, in the concert-exhibition hall of the library named after A. P. Chekhov:

· opening of the 8th book exhibition "The Best Books of Russia - to Taganrog". Books from the famous largest publishing houses of Russia were presented at the exhibition. 1086 people visited the exhibition.

· The educational lecture "Lermontov's St. Petersburg in the History and Persons" for pupils of the Taganrog colleges, readers and librarians, dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the poet took place. The lecture was given by M.A. Yakovleva, the research assistant of methodical department of library named after M. Lermontov. 90 people attended the event.

· creative meeting of students of the Taganrog colleges, with the famous Russian writer, the publicist Evgeny Popov. The event was attended by 80 people.

May 15, in the conference hall of the library named after A. P. Chekhov:

·The fourth scientific and practical conference "The Continuation of Chekhov: the 100th anniversary of building the Taganrog municipal library (F. O. Schechtel)". Not only librarians of Taganrog, Bataysk, Donetsk, Rostov-on-Don, Myasnikovsky district, Yaroslavl, but also art critics and staff of the museums of Taganrog and Moscow participated in the conference.

May 15, near the library named after A. P. Chekhov:

· The book fair, where the biggest book-selling organization of region "Rostovkniga" presented books, and editions of the writers – guests of the festival, took place. The book production had been presented by book-selling shops: "Magistr", "Books" and "Russian Post".

The bibliographer of the department  "the Center of Local history Information" of  Chekhov library Julia Mamchenko became a member of the Regional scientific and practical conference "This wonderful Russian language" dedicated to activities of libraries for preservation of Russian language and  has made the report "Classics of Russian". The  Chekhov Library worked as, the Information centre "Elections 2014", in  which voters were informed about the pre-election campaign, acquainted with the visuals, about powers and the status of deputies of City Council, publications in the press, videos. The information centre received applications from the public in writing and by telephone, the consultant was on duty.

2014 September 11. The Organizational-methodical Department of the Central city public library named after A. P. Chekhov was awarded with the Chekhov reward for the significant contribution to the development of culture and art in the city of Taganrog. The Head of Department Svetlana Rybina has been awarded with the Prize, the Certificate and a commemorative medal at the festive reception of the mayor of Taganrog in honor of the city's birthday.

The chief librarian of the pre-revolutionary and valuable editions Department, Irina Morozova, participated in the Scientific and practical Conference "Problems and perspectives of preservation of Chekhov's heritage" dedicated to the 155th anniversary of Anton Chekhov's birth, to the 125 anniversary of a trip of the writer to the island of Sakhalin the 125th anniversary of the writer's visit to the island of Sakhalin and made a presentation "Taganrog City Library in the preservation, study and promotion of Chekhov's legacy: from the 19th century to the century" (South-Sakhalin)
  2015  March 25. The conference for specialists of libraries, teachers of the educational institutions of Taganrog working with youth "We should live and remember. Patriotic education of youth" was held in the conference hall of Chekhov Library. (96 persons)
  2015  April 24. The action in support of reading "Biblionoch-2015 in Taganrog" "The diary of Chekhov’s era" took place. 40 actions on 16 platforms, which were visited by about 2500 people have taken place within the action.

13-16 May. IX International Chekhov Book Festival:                                                   

 Within the festival libraries of Taganrog held 18 events, which were attended by 4470 people.           The 9th book exhibition "The Best Books of Russia for Taganrog" worked from May 14 to May 18. The exhibition was attended by 1600 people. All the books submitted (1515 copies) were handed out to the municipal libraries of the city of Taganrog after the festival.

  2015  14-15 May. V Russian Scientific and practical Conference of libraries named after A. Chekhov "Continuation of Chekhov. Chekhov, Tchaikovsky, Levitan" was held in Chekhov Library. More than 150 people participated in the Conference: specialists from the municipal, departmental, trade union and educational libraries of the region and Russia, staff of museums, teachers and university students. The representatives of the libraries from Istra, Kaliningrad, Rostov-on-Don, Azov, Bataysk, Novocherkassk, library systems: Matveevo-Kurgansky, Neklinovsky, Kuibyshev districts came to the motherland of A.P. Chekhov. The participants in the Conference were S.G. Matlina, editor-in-chief of the magazine "Bibliotechnoye Delo", the Chief scientific officer of RNL, candidate of pedagogical sciences (Moscow) and M.O. Chudakova (Moscow), literary critic, historian, Doctor of Philology, critic, writer, memoirist, public figure. 11841 books have been donated to the library from the first to the Ninth Book Festival (inclusively).

Oksana Serbina, the head of the Centre of Cultural Programs, attended the IX International Conference "Lessons of the Holocaust and modern Russia" (International forum "Holocaust: 70 years later") Made a presentation "the Role of public libraries in the perception of young people about the Holocaust" (Moscow).

  2015  September 10. Morozova Irina, the chief librarian of department of pre-revolutionary and valuable editions of the Central city public library of A.P. Chekhov, was awarded with the Chekhovian prize for the significant contribution to the development of culture and art in Taganrog city. The honorary sign and the certificate of the laureate were presented at the gala reception of the mayor of Taganrog in honor of city's birthday.

The 10th International Chekhov Book Festival was held in Taganrog The libraries of the Central library system carried out 14 events, which were visited by 4000persons.                                                                                                                                                               The 10th Book exhibition "The Best Books of Russia for Taganrog" worked from May 13 to May 15 in the library named after A. P. Chekhov. The municipal libraries of the city of Taganrog got all the books submitted after the festival.

 The Interregional humanitarian forum "the Book as the vitamin of growth" and presentation of the Cultural and Educational Association "Bibliotherapy" was held with the support of the administration of Taganrog, the Department of culture of Taganrog and the Pushkin library. The participants were 112 library professionals from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Krasnodar Krai, Rostov-Don, Rostov region, and the city of Taganrog.                                                                                

- meeting with Lyudmila Malyukova, the Doctor of Philology, the literary critic, the member of the Russian Writers' Union, the author of numerous books and articles about the Russian literature of the XX century was held in the concert hall of Chekhov library.

The festival "Territory of childhood" for children and adults with professional consultations, workshops, games, creative meetings, contests, quizzes took place in the municipal house of culture.                            The staff of the library named after M. Gorky took part in a "Literary picnic" in a public Park on the Playground "Lukomorye". (more than 500 persons).

A round table-talk entitled "Traditions of patronage in homeland of A. P. Chekhov: Preservation and Development" was held in the small exhibition hall of Chekhov library. It was attended by the library staff, city, and Russian museums, writers, government officials and the business community, collectors and historians of the city. The main outcome of a festival – the books donated to urban libraries, schools, kindergartens. The festival united readers of all age, writers, artists, translators, librarians and all who are interested in the book and literature. 12708 copies of the documents were donated to the libraries of Taganrog from the first to the tenth book festival.

2016 The presentation of the 64th historical-literary almanac "Vekhi Taganroga" devoted to Year of Russian cinema was held on 26 August in the Chekhov library. The event was attended by Director, writer, producer feature and documentary films, honored artist G. M. Yevtushenko, a famous film critic, Director, member of the Expert Council of the Guild of film critics of Russia D. A. Schneider, a member of the Union of cinematographers of Russia, I. K. Pugovkin.
